I note today that the Met Police are looking to arrest protestors that held up banners in the anti Denmark rallies that incited violence or murder. I assume that they resisted doing it at the time due to the possiblity of the situation blowing up out of control.
But this seems two faced when you consider an individual was arrested in Brighton in August for wearing a tee shirt with anti Blair/Bush slogans under "Section 12 - Public Order Act 1996".
We speak of freedom of speech in this country, as something we can pride ourself, but it has recently shown itself to be flawed.
It's getting like a Faulty Towers episode 'don't mention the war'. We are scared to voice opinions in case we feel the backlash. What sort of society will that breed. I just hope Jesus was right when he said that the meek shall inherit the earth, that way we have a chance....
