Blind skier sets downhill record

Image hosting by Photobucket

Kevin Alderton, a former soldier set a new downhill speed skiing record by a blind person of 100.94mph. Being sent instructions via a headset built in his helmet, he was aiming at speeds of more than 130mph.

Kevin thanked the charity St Dunstan's for blinded ex-servicemen and said, "If I can inspire somebody to do something they would not normally do, my aims have been achieved".

He lost his sight when having his eyes gouged when he tried to stop a gang attacking a woman.
