Suri Cruise

Wikipedia has a new entry for the name Suri which Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes called their baby daughter. Most news stations have indicated that it is Hebrew for 'princess', which I always thought was Sarah.

Wikipedia only list the follwing definitions for Suri.

  1. Suri, an ethnic group living in south-west Ethiopia, near the border with Sudan.
  2. Suri (Pashtun), a Pashtun tribe.
  3. Suri, India, the district headquarter of Birbhum, West Bengal, India.
  4. Suri Cruise, the child of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes.
  5. a tribe of Khatris who have their origin in the Punjab province.
  6. Suri (origin), from Sanskrit suri ‘sun’, ‘priest’, ‘sage’. It is also an epithet of Krishna.
  7. Suri (alpaca), one of the two fiber types of alpacas. Known for their exquisite silky, lustrous fiber for making garments and other woven, knitted, crocheted yarn products. The Suri alpaca is native to the Andes Mountains of Bolivia, Chile and Peru; thriving in North America as domestic livestock along with the huacaya, the other fiber type of alpaca that is lofty and of a different character than the suri, but quite soft, both are softer than cashmere.
