Where there's muck there's brass

Japanese scientists have found a way to make petrol out of COW DUNG. The process involves heating the dung to 300 degrees C under a pressure of 30 atmospheres.
3.5 ounces of dung produces .042 ounces of petrol. and with Japanese cows producing 551,155 tons of cattle dung a year, that would be 66,138 tons of petrol or 17,636,800 Gallons.

In a separate experiment revealing another unusual business potential for cow dung, a group of researchers has successfully extracted an aromatic ingredient of vanilla from cattle dung, said Miki Tsuruta, a Sekisui Chemical spokeswoman. The extracted ingredient, vanillin, can be used as fragrance in shampoo and candles, she said. (No mention of Cow Dung flavoured Ice Cream though).
